The Ball And The Polo Stick
Arifi of Herat, Luzac & Co, 1931. A slim hardback book of some 30 pages in Persian from the original manuscript written between 1438 and 1439. The Ball And The Polo Stick uses the game of polo as an allegory for Arifi's mystical teachings. The polo stick is an important motif in Islamic heraldry. This book edited by R.S. Greenshields is one of the few western examples of this rare Persian poem. Very good condition.
