A wonderful original work by John Board who had such a gift for depicting the polo pony in action and showing such character in the pony's faces. Note the Umpire following in cloth cap. No safety equipment was required in the 1950s.

John Board was renowned for making quick sketches leaning on the bonnet of his Bentley at Cowdray Park.
